The program screen

The graphic display of the tool path, the NC program text display and the most important control elements for starting and monitoring the program processes are on the first page.

Graphic display

The upper left window displays the tool and its path in three dimensional spaces, after the NC program has loaded.

The „tripod“ with red, green and blue arrows represents the coordinate source. The rapid traverse stretches are red dotted lines, the milling path uses green lines (if multiple tools are used, several tools may use various colours).

Mouse controls

After left clicking the mouse cursor in the window, you can then move the display up/down and left/right by keeping the button pressed.

  • You can move towards and away from the object with the mouse wheel (zoom).
Pulling while keeping the right mouse button depressed changes the line of sight.
  • A left double click will centre the object, filling the screen and sets the centre of rotation in the work piece; another double click will adjust the zoom so that the complete milling area is presented… At the same time the centre of ration is set in the middle of the workspace.
  • A small menu will open with a double click on the right mouse button.

The „Simple machine“ option draws the workspace as a thin, green, line. If this option is selected, the machine work space will then be represented as a grid pattern.
The „Machine“ option displays the work space graphically, when the option is selected only the work piece (if a program is loaded) and the zero point are presented.

The NC-program window

The text display for the graphic window is below the text display.
You can use the mouse or the cursor keys to scroll in the window, in order to view the entire program, or enter a specific line.
If a specific line is clicked, the „Start here“ button  will be activated and a program can be continued from this point.

The operating elements

The following briefly explains the other control elements.
Should one of the symbols still be confusing, you can leave the mouse cursor over the button and a brief Help text (Tool Tips) will be displayed.
First the presentation of the symbols is explained using the „Edit“ button:

Normal active button that can be pressed
Normal active button that can be pressed, with the current focus
Currently pressed button
Deactivated button that cannot be pressed. The reason could be no user authorization or the function is not currently possible.

The individual symbols

Program start so that the currently loaded program will run.
Program start from the currently selected line. In order to continue a program, which had been previously stopped.
Pause program. In order to stop the program running at the time.
Rewind program. Pressing this button will return the program back to the first line of the program.
Load program. The button is identical with Menu->File->Open NC file.
Edit program. This button opens an editor, where the current NC program can be edited.

Sets the coordinates on the right to zero (0). Coordinates refer to the selected current offset (G53-G59)
Sets all coordinates to right (0). The coordinates are based on the selected current offset (G53-G59)
Performs a reference run with all axes.
Opens the MDI entry table. It can be used to perform individual G-commands, e.g. G0X100 in order to rotate the X axis back to position 100.
Activates or deactivates the tools length compensation in G49.

The feeds

The column in the upper right contains the slide controls for the feed override (feed%) and the spindle speed override (spindle %). You can thus alter speed between 0 (stop) and 150% while the program is running or change the spindle speed (should your machine have a spindle with a frequency converter.

This button can be used to change the current feed.

You can immediately set the feed override to zero by pressing the ESC key and temporarily pause the program. Doing so is the equivalent of setting the feed slide control to zero. Pressing the „Reset“ button will return the run to the normal speed (100%). In order to provide better representation, the feed is coloured red.

These buttons can be used to alter the spin speed.

These buttons decrease or increase the jog speed, which is presented in the display between these buttons.

Tools and rail settings

Opens the tool change dialogue.
Opens a window, in which many settings for the machining strategy can be altered. See trajectory settings.

Outlets and tool spindle

Switches the tool spindle in the corresponding direction. Depending on the machine type, these might be the only buttons displayed.
Activates cooling. Depending on the machine type, only one of the cooling types might be displayed.

Coordinate display

The coordinate display is located at the top of the middle column, where the position of the axes is displayed. The position values are always based on the current zero point, which can be chosen with the select button.

Offsets

In G53, the coordinates are absolute (machine zero point) and are presented in white on green, all other selection options are workpiece-based offsets and are presented in white on blue. Al the tool offsets G54 to G59 shall be permanently saved on the computer hard drive and shall remain in place after exiting and restarting the program.

Setting coordinates

By double clicking with the left mouse button on a button, a coordinate can be entered manually. Selecting „Relative“ means that the figure entry is based relatively on the current coordinates.
For example, the coordinate Z currently has a value of 50,000. A manual entry of 30,000, the coordinates are set to the value of 30,000, when „Relative“ is entered, the entry of 30,000 will set the coordinates to a value of 80,000.

Colour presentation

Under the coordinate display you will also find the current feed speed (F) and the spindle speed (S). They are normally displayed in white on blue. If the „Overwrite feed“ option is selected in the trajectory dialogue, it will appear in white on turquoise.

Emergency off

Underneath is the display for the emergency off switch.

Note: The emergency off symbol is only a display. You cannot trigger an emergency off by clicking on the symbol The configuration was intentionally set up in this manner, as an emergency off triggered by software is not secure and fractions of seconds can be lost in critical cases, because searching with the mouse cursor takes too long. In the event of imminent danger, please use the „real“ emergency off switch on the machine or controls.

Message window

In the „Message“ window at the bottom, information about the program or the error message will be displayed. The message can be deleted by right clicking on the window.
